Travel Guide: St. Augustine
I would say that the oldest city in America deserves a visit. We certainly enjoyed visiting this city! The city had a lot of great restaurants, beaches, good views, and good sightseeing. It has a fort and in less than 1.5 hrs driving, you can be in a beautiful national park. It was a great visit and I highly recommend it!
Things to do in LA on a budget
By. Dylan Moskowitz
A trip to Los Angeles ensures sunshine and sky-high palm trees throughout your travels. However, it doesn’t have to be expensive. Although LA is home to celebrity homes and Rodeo Drive, getting around and enjoying all that the city has to offer can be affordable for those with tight budgets. Los Angeles offers boundless amounts of things to do, with new and exciting ventures launching at rapid speeds. With this in mind, businesses both big and small are offering competitive prices to captivate LA’s ever-growing audience.
Zoar Village
Lined up in a row, on top of a counter, are neat piles of coffee, sugar, flour and grain. Each pile contains enough food for every member of each family unit. At the end of the day, one member of each family would gather at the Assembly House and be awarded food for their family’s labors. Those ages 3-14 would spend the day in the community’s school. Everyone else was expected to meet once a week and find out what the family job would be; jobs were anything from threshing the wheat to baking the bread. These jobs were for the benefit of the entire society. No one was a lone island; everyone worked together, played together, lived together, ate together and worshipped together. They were part of one of the most successful communal settlements in American history. They were the Society of the Separatists of Zoar, aka “Zoarites”.
Travel Guide: Ohiopyle PA
If you’re looking for somewhere to view fall foliage, you could do worse than Ohiopyle. Ohiopyle State Park is within the Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania. I’ve been to this area before, and wrote about it here. This time, we did some different things! This would be a great over-night trip, or a very ambitious day-trip, from Columbus, Ohio. The area is full of beautiful views, and especially this time of year with the changing fall leaves. We stopped over and saw some sights on the way to and from Philadelphia. It was slightly out of the way, but worth it!
My summer wrap-up
It’s been a very hectic summer for me. Finishing grad school, lots of traveling and other life changes. But with the passing of Labor Day, we know the summer has come to an end. (Some people don’t know the summer is over, I’m talking to you man at the gas station wearing white sweatpants on September 5th.) I thought it was time to wrap the summer up with a little post on places I went, products I used and whatever else I feel like writing about.
