Five mistakes I learned on my first trip overseas

  • January 01, 2015
It was our first trip to Italy together for our Honeymoon, and we couldn’t wait.  However, being new to the whole foreign traveling thing, we certainly learned the hard way…

In no particular order… here are five mistakes we made.

1.  Using a tour-booking company
I know travel companies can be a real lure, and I’m sure there is a place for them.  However, they overcharge for their services and have their own connections (with hotels, for example) that may actually not be in your favor.

Outfit Combinations

  • January 01, 2015
In my experience, there are three kinds of travelers when it comes to fashion:

1. Safari-style clothing wearers.  These are the people who raid REI and only wear hiking style clothing no matter where they go.  Example: these are the people you see inside the British Museum wearing trekking pants and their Keen sandals.
2.  Impractical fashion wearers. These are the people that are in front of you in the security lines with their four inch heals on and desperately taking off every metal bracelet they own which they decided to wear through a metal detector. These are also the people you see freezing at the subway station wearing a stylish jacket that has absolutely no warming capabilities.
3.  Smart and fashionable clothing wearers.  These are the people who purchase the right clothes for the right temperatures but take into consideration that they’re in a foreign country and don’t want to stand out like a sore thumb.

Welcome to my site!

  • December 12, 2014

Since my first trip overseas to Italy in 2008, I was hooked on traveling.  I began wandering through the travel book section of my local library weekly, while watching as many Rick Steves’ Europe episodes as I could.  I guess you could say that traveling became one of my most favorite hobbies.
